Muraho!(Hi in Kinyarwanda). I am Georgia Shimirwa (she/her/hers) but many people call me Georgia. I was born and raised in the calm city of Kigali, Rwanda and just last year I came to this active city of New York . I speak both English and Kinyarwanda but I am very fluent in Kinyarwanda because it is my mother language. I am pursuing Mechanical Engineering and my passion for this field stems from a lifelong curiosity about how things work, particularly the complex mechanics and their potential to make lives better and easier. I haven’t always been a book person but Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman is a recent discovery that I treasure because as a person who values social life, it has opened my eyes to the importance of understanding, assessing and controlling my own emotions and the emotions of others. On the other hand, I didn’t like “Introduction to Organic Chemistry” and it is only because of its complexity since it introduces things that can’t be seen in real life, mainly atoms and elements. My greatest issue with writing is crafting strong and catchy thesis statements. Outside of my studies, I really enjoy playing and watching soccer, especially Ronaldo-the greatest of all time. My other interests are biking around the city, spending quality time with friends and family as well as photography and ceramics. ~Georgia.

Soccer and ceramics: Balancing my adrenaline and calm. Double the fine, double the vibe.
